MAY 5, 2004 ATLANTA, --Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA), Women in Technology (WIT) and Smart Start Georgia have joined forces with KaBOOM! and members of the Atlanta community to build an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant playground at the non-profit Herrington Day School. The project is the latest collaborative construction effort with KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization that brings communities and businesses together to build much-needed play spaces in just one day. The program is designed to benefit communities in need of safe, accessible and well-designed places for children to play. The new playground will help improve the quality of early care and education at Herrington Day School by giving children a 3,612 square-foot musical playground including a twist-and-shout slide, bell and drum panels, a chime banner and several side bells. According to the National Association for the Education of Young Children, children who experience high-quality, stable child care engage in more complex play, demonstrate more secure attachments to adults and other children, and score higher on measures of thinking ability and language development. The ceremony kicks off at the Herrington Day School located at 974 Bolton Road in Atlanta, Georgia, on Thursday, May 6, 2004, at 8:30 a.m. The Ribbon-cutting ceremony begins at 3:00 P.M. For additional information on CA, please visit www.ca.com and www.ca.com/community For additional information on KaBOOM!, please visit www.kaboom.org For additional information on WIT, please visit www.tagonline.org For additional information on Smart Start Georgia, please visit www.smartstartga.org â??
